Conondale National Park, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Wednesday 17 June 2026
High-clearance 4WD required. Booloumba Creek Road has 3 creek crossings that can become impassable after rain. Allow ~2 hours from Brisbane via Maleny or Kenilworth.
Creeks rise fast during storms. Never camp in dry creek beds. Check the forecast above — if heavy rain is predicted, reconsider creek crossings and avoid swimming.
Allowed in fire rings (check local fire bans). Bring your own firewood — collecting wood in the park is prohibited. Never leave unattended and fully extinguish before leaving.
Booloumba Creek has crystal-clear swimming holes but the water is very cold year-round. Wear water shoes (sharp rocks). Supervise children at all times. Best after rain flushes the pools.
Keep a safe distance. Store food in locked containers or your vehicle. Watch for snakes on trails in warmer months. Respect all native animals.
Pack out all rubbish, including food scraps. Use designated toilet facilities. Leave the site cleaner than you found it so others can enjoy it too.
Camping permits are required via QLD Parks. Sites book out weeks in advance during peak periods (summer, Easter, school holidays). First-come camping is also available at some sites.
Fallen trees on Conondale Range Great Walk — repairs until April 2026. Mt Allan fire tower closed to climbing. Check park alerts before departure.
